I can’t believe tax time has already come and gone! The year is already a little more than 25% over! Where did that time go??? In light of how fast time flies, I thought it would be fitting to talk about strategic planning – in business and in life.
Every year, I sit down and create a plan for the year. I hope many of you do as well. This plan contains my high-level goals for my business and life and contains both qualitative and quantitative measures. A strategic plan should be strategic in nature – it should be a high-level view of where you want to go and what you want to achieve. It should be comprehensive – looking across all of the top priority areas in your life and business.
Periodically I believe we should pull out that plan and see how things are going. Some do this weekly, some monthly, some quarterly, and some annually. No matter where you fall in this spectrum, I would encourage you to take a few minutes now and dust off a plan you have already created.
And if you started the year in a flash and failed to create one, there is no time like the present! On my website, you can sign up for my email list and receive my Strategic Planning Guide and template to help you get started!
Where are you now versus where you thought you would be at the end of the first quarter?
Are you taking the time for yourself that you had envisioned at the start of the year? Have you created and maintained the balance you have been longing for? Are you making time for your friends and family? Have you done the traveling you wanted to do? Have you taken a spring break to rest and rejuvenate? Are you filling your soul regularly and engaging in activities you are passionate about? Are you eating healthier? Exercising regularly? Laughing enough? If so, well done! If not, what can you do now to make yourself a priority?
Have you achieved the business success you had envisioned? Have you hit your sales targets? Have you built your client base? Have you kept your expenses in check? Have you achieved the milestone successes you had planned? Have you celebrated your wins? Do you have plans in place to address areas where you may have come up short or things haven’t gone as planned? Have you identified where you might need some extra help?
What are the top 3 things that you need to focus on in the next month to set yourself on a path to achieve your goals this year? There is no time like the present and there is still plenty of time to achieve your dreams this year!
I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below and let me know what your biggest success has been so far this year and what your focus will be in the next month to get something important to you back on track.
